I didn't take the usual route into tech. At school I was the kid on the BBC Micro who always wanted to know more, and my teacher ended up having me help run the classes. But things at home were falling apart. I left home at 14 and spent seven months living on the streets.
When life settled, I moved into finance. After sixth form I started as an accounts payable clerk at a construction company in Elstree. I studied for my AAT exams and worked across systems like SAP, Sun Accounts and Pegasus. Along the way I learned something important: debits and credits are the same everywhere, but the finance system a company runs on makes all the difference.
In March 2012 I joined Hitachi as a finance administrator and got my first hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. It lit a fire in me. At the time there were no clear courses or pathways into Dynamics. You had to be lucky enough to land at the right company. I was one of the lucky ones, and through persistence and a lot of trial and error I built a career as a Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations consultant and now work as an D365 F&O Technical Manager for a international retail company, culminating over 14years experience.

Background in finance operations: accounts payable, Sales Ledger, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Budgeting and SOX Auditing - AAT Part Qualified
