Our head coach Seth Katz went from being homeless to now earning 6 figures

Looking back, I’m truly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given and the chance to help others find their way into the IT space.
My story starts in the late 80s. As a young student, I wasn’t exactly what you’d call attentive in class. Let’s just say I was a little disruptive, probably due to the PTSD from childhood trauma. But there was one class that always had my full attention – computer science.
Back then, we worked on BBC Micros, and my teacher quickly noticed my passion for learning. I was the kid who always wanted to know more, constantly tinkering and asking questions. Eventually, I improved so much that my teacher had me helping oversee classes. I suppose you could say I was the unofficial TA (teaching assistant) before I even knew what TA meant.
But while I was thriving in the classroom, things at home were slowly unraveling. I left home at 14 and spent seven months living on the streets. It was a strange time, lying low, moving from place to place. I spent most of my days hanging around amusement arcades. Not for the crowd, but for the games.
I loved computers, graphics, and games anything that required concentration and problem-solving. But as life pressed on, I drifted away from computers and focused on survival. Eventually, I returned home and shifted my focus to finance, hoping to build a more stable future.
After finishing sixth form, I landed a job at a construction company in Elstree as an accounts payable clerk. That job marked the start of my career in finance. Over time, I worked in various roles and learned an important truth, while accounting principles stayed the same (debits and credits are universal), the finance systems used by each company were critical. So, I started to dive deeper into those systems – SAP, Sun Accounts, Pegasus.
At the same time, I was working toward my AAT accounting exams. Even though I wasn’t chasing a career in finance specifically, I could see a future in finance systems.
The real breakthrough came in March 2012 when I joined Hitachi. At first, I worked as a finance administrator, but I had the chance to engage with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. That small taste of working with AX lit a fire in me. I wanted more. Back then, there weren’t many clear pathways or courses to get into finance systems like Dynamics. It was all about luck, finding the right opportunity at the right company. Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones.
Through persistence and a bit of trial and error, I carved out a path that led me to where I am today. Now, I aim to help others navigate their way into careers working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
If my journey proves anything, it’s that even the most unconventional paths can lead to incredible opportunities and I’m here to help guide you along the way.
I help people find a way into the Microsoft D365 world. If any of this resonates, get in touch and let's talk about your journey!

Personal Development: Focus on continuous learning, goal setting, and the professional growth that turns a junior consultant into a senior one.
Understand Yourself: Discover your strengths, recognise your working style, and build the self-awareness that separates lasting consultants from short-lived ones.
Technical Understanding of D365 and Scenarios: Learn the technical aspects of Microsoft D365, including system navigation, module configurations, and real-world business scenarios.
Customisation vs Configuration: Master the most important decision a D365 consultant makes; when to configure, when to customise, and how to defend each choice to stakeholders, developers, and clients.
Service Management Tools: Explore the service management tools used in D365 environments: including DevOps, ServiceNow, and Jira to manage incidents, track system changes, and ensure smooth operations.
D365 Fundamentals Curriculum: Work through the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (ERP) syllabus the same foundation Microsoft uses to introduce new consultants to the platform. Sets you up to progress toward role-based associate certifications like
MB-310 (Finance) or MB-330 (Supply Chain) once you have hands-on project experience.
